Work And Travel USA'07 (Niagara Falls)

I first pronounced it as "Nia-ga-ra" but the Americans pronounce it as "Nai-e-gra". So, in order to communicate with them, I followed their way of pronouncing it. Otherwise, they'll think that I'm talking about something else. Together with Wei Ni, Poh Ching and Ricky, I planned this trip.

It was an 6hour drive from Plattekill to the Town of Niagara. Since we started our journey in the evening, we arrived at our destination after midnight. It was too late for us to visit anywhere. So, we slept over at a motel. The next morning, the first thing to do is of course, brush and wash up and have a good breakfast. We never waste anytime getting lost because Ricky has this really cool GPS locator (called Tom-tom) in his car. She (Due to the femine voice it has) is so smart, knows every restaurant, shopping place and practically every single building you can find in the states. On top of that, she even knows the name of every streets, big or small. "After 500 yards, turn left", "After 200yards, bear right" and "You have reached your destination" are some of the lines we heard Tom-tom saying all along the journey. Too bad I didn't take any pictures of this cool gadget. Even so, we do waste some time looking for a car park since Tom-tom is not smart enough to locate every empty parking lot.

Behold, Niagara Falls.

Right across the river is Ontario, Canada. Seen in this picture is the Skylon Tower. Looking a the size of the vessel, you should be able to imagine how wide the river is, and how huge to falls really are.

And this is the bridge connecting Ontario and New York. You can cross over if you have a American or Canadian identity, otherwise, you'll hav to pay USD60 for a visa.
The impact of the volume of water falling from the falls has created a never-ending blast of wind, which can be felt even a few hundred yards away.

I really don't know how to describe the majestic view in words.
As you can see, after a while, we got all wet. The punchos are really useless agains the mist created by the falls. This is how the boat got its name.

Next, we went the Cave of the Winds, which got us closer to the falls.

It was no longer a cave due to a massive rock fall in 1954. However, "Cave of the Wind" is still kept as the name of this tourist attraction.

Here in this picture is me in a poor-functioning yellow puncho and our tour guide. He told us that these wooden pathways are contructed a very spring during the year after all the ice of the winter has melted and demolish before winter arrives.

This is as close as we could get to the falls for a nice picture, any nearer, you'll need a water-proof camera to take a shot, and you'll look all wet in the photo.
