Due to over-exhaustion, I slept very well that night. I wiggled out from the cozy bed in Poh Ching's aunt's ( Aunt Debra) house. I looked around and remembered where I am. It was late spring then. The weather looks bright and sunny, but it was cold. It was around the temperature of Genting Highlands we had in Malaysia I think. I got out of bed and look down below.
Poh Ching helping Andrew wearing his shoes. Apparently, they are going out for a walk.
Turning my head some 20 degrees, there was the living area, right next to the kitchen. And my big black suitcase. The nice bed I slept in.
It was the first time I had a look at a real American house. It sure has a very different feel than the houses we had in Malaysia.
This is how the house look like from the outside.
Well, the house was a compact yet cozy little home for the family of 3. Even so, guess how much it cost? USD 200,000 we were told by Aunt Debra. Wow~ Even with Rm200,000, a much bigger house can be easily purchased in Malaysia. Triple the price for a small house like this? Seems like it is not that simple if you want to live in the states.
After taking a hot shower, I felt that my skin is stiff as I move my facial muscles. And my lips are dry and cracking. The air is much dryer than Malaysia, which is hot and wet throughout the year.
I had a sweather underneath my jacket. Cold.
And so, after everyone is ready, Aunt Debra took us for a one-day tour at Manhattan, New York City. Along the drive, I couldn't stop looking at everything around. Everything is just so different. The trees, grass, vehicles, sign boards, traffic lights, buildings, people, everything.
We arrived there after a 1 and a half hour drive. We had our car parked at a spot near to a subway entrance at Queens and took a train to the city. Coming out from the New York Port Authority building, we were simply blasted off by what we saw.
Times Square. The city is so happening. It was like stepping into the movie world where everything we seen in a American movie comes to life. It it was real. So real. (I'll elaborate further on
Manhattan in a later post).
We started our tour by foot, then by bus. As the day went-by, I realised that my physiological cycles are distrupted. I got sleepy and hungry at the wrong time of the day. It was a 12 hour difference from the time that my body is used to. So, it'll take a little while for the body to adapt to the environment, physiologically.
