Sarawak'06(Part 3: Semawak)

Semawak the longhouse village.
The most special thing about the longhouse is that each individual house (with its own living room, bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom) is joined together by this long corridor.

We were treated with durians right after we put down our luggage. This is only the first durian feast we had. Believe it or not, WE HAD DURIANS FOR EVERYMEAL!! (Only as desert of course). The durians are everywhere, and they are free from the forest. And any of them taste like a D24. No wonder the locals are so obsessed with durians. Former durian lovers, Minwei and Suzy had developed “duriophobia” due to over dosage of durians. As for me, who’s seldom eat durians, beat the total cumulative numbers of durians I’ve eaten for the past 20 years of my life is just 2 days. Wow~

And yes, whether you like it or not, the river is your bathroom here. Tee hee~
Our dinner at the longhouse. Simple but hearty meal.

And after dinner, we conduct or service session at the long corridor of the long house.
As usual it started with a praise and worship session. Realize that they even have their own set of electrical musical instruments. Looks like they are not so “ulu” after all huh?
Followed by a simple sharing by us (the guests from peninsular) and a sermon by Pastor Michael.
