Matter of Integrity

I still remember when I was young, my teachers always tell me not to cheat in test and exams. They told me that I have to be an honest student. And honest students don’t cheat in exams. Thanks to all the dedicated teachers, I made it to the university.

And so in the university, there’s this program where teachers without a degree are arranged to take a degree course here in the campus. Like any other undergraduates, they go for lectures and face examinations as well, nothing unusual about that. But what disappoints me is the method some of them used to score well in their exams. Asking undergraduates, who took the same paper a few days before they do, about the questions that were asked by the lecturer. Or even worse, swapping answer sheets during the exam itself.

Well, cheating is quite a common problem in exams regardless of which academic level, from primary school up to the university. But now, some teachers are cheating with such unscrupulous means. Teachers, aren’t they suppose to gain knowledge the proper way so that they can teach their students well? Now that they had cheated in exams, are they going back to school and tell their students not to do that? How shameful it is when our children are taught by a bunch of exam cheaters who spoil the reputation of our honourable teachers.
