Work And Travel USA’07 (The Inspiration)

It was by the end of my 2nd semester in UPM, when my senior Suzy first told me about this program upon successfully pass the visa interview. (She suddenly sms-ed me to read an article in the newspaper about her success). It was her second chance to go overseas. The first was a few years back after her secondary school, where she went to Japan and stayed with an adopted family under a student exchange program.

My ambition to undergo this program developed only when she shared her experience with me after landing back in Malaysia; about the life there, the fun that she had, the things she learned, the visa procedures, who to contact and most importantly, the amount of fund needed.

I really admire this cute and harmless looking girl, no taller than 150cm for being courageous enough to do this, all by herself. I’ve always wanted to travel to another country. For the first 21 years of my life, I never been out of the country (except Singapore, which is not considered overseas, just across a strait). I wanted so much to travel, but due to financial constraint, I never had a chance.

I see this an way for me to see another country, not just merely by having a tour but to really stay there long enough to understand their culture and how their society works. I see this as a opportunity to do something most people of my age has never done. I see this as a means to realize my dream with minimal financial impact on my family.

Hence, I decided to do this.
